Mind Mapping with Popplet
I've been trying to describe the diversity of projects and teaching with You Can Learn It and had a go at this mind mapping tool.
Popplet allows the user to add photos and text. It's easy to move objects around the screen in real time. I've used our company colours for this example.

Back to Comic Creating
Exploring some of my collection of resources this morning in preparation for classes and I found one I hadn't tried out yet. It's been a while since I ran a Comic Creating workshop and I'd forgotten juts how many resources I had.
wittycomics.com helps the learner create a comic strip with different backgrounds, characters and narration. Type in the words then choose a thought bubble or speech bubble for each character. Frames can be duplicated and the comic can be saved.
Not all features work in all browsers and the comic saves to the user's account. A screen shot and credit to witty comics.com would allow for further use. It's also free!

Changes and Moving On
This month, You Can Learn It Ltd directors made the decision to opt out of a further contract for literacies and ICT provision.
Sheila has worked with the Adult Literacy and Numeracy Partnership for the last seven years but we now want to develop more opportunities for people with learning disabilities and develop project work for mental health and well being. She will still keep in contact with partners and share free resources.
"The work of You Can Learn It is inspired by people I meet in the community and their enthusiasm to learn. Some of the students have prompted the need for change to be able to support them to learn more about the Internet and Web 2.0 tools to enable them to make more connections and participate in the community."

Software for Visually Impaired
This morning I was working with Ken from Dolphin, updating my knowledge on Guide screen reading software. All my burning questions were answered and I was able to trouble shoot some of the issues our students were having. Great progress!
